It is three generations old, the battery is not new, and it is still the phone we recommend to anyone who wants to find out whether they can actually live without Google services before spending four figures on the question.
Worth knowing before you buyGoogle stopped shipping firmware updates for the 6a in 2025. GrapheneOS still publishes extended-support builds for it, but they cannot patch firmware-level issues that Google no longer fixes. If your threat model is a well-resourced adversary, buy a 9 or a 10 instead. If it is advertisers and data brokers, this phone is completely sufficient.
